HISTORY OF TYPEWRITERS

1714 A special king's order gave an operator of the London water-supplying station Henry Mills the right to "design machines and an artificial method of continuous typing of separate letters as if in hand writing". Mills had an idea of designing a machine with a successive moving of levers, which was a prototype of typewriters.

1808 Pellegrino Turri designed a typewriter for his blind lover. This fact allows us to consider him the father of blind typewriting.

1855 Jusepper Ravisso designed the prototype of typewriter.
1864 A German master Peter Mitterhofer designed a wooden typewriter with 30 keys.
1867 Three printers from Milwaukee, USA - Christopher Latham Sholes, Carlos Glidden, S. W. Soule - designed a typewriter with moving levers and the carriage moving in the process of typewriting.

1867 The typewriter designed by a Dane Hanse Malling was demonstrated at the exhibition of technical wonders in Vienna and its manufacturing started.
1870 In Russia M.I. Alisov designed a typing apparatus "SKOROPISETS" (FAST WRITER) which was a great success. The designer faced a lot of trouble in manufacturing the machine in Russia so he had to pass the order over to England.
