Yury Kozlow

Kursk, Russia

Yury Kozlow I was born in an ancient town of Rylsk in the west of Kursk region in 1972.

I've lived here most part of my life and am still living here. As it usually happens, I studied, after graduating from technical university I worked as an electrician, then joined the Russian Federation Army. After that I came back and got a job at a local newspaper as "a PC operator" (that's what it was called in those days); I am still working there but now as a deputy of Chief Editor. In January 2008 I became a member of the Journalists' Union of Russia.

I have been typing as long as I can remember. At first it was a primitive typewriter, then, after I joined the newspaper, - a computer keyboard. The amount of work I had to do made me learn touch-typing. Unfortunately, the studies had not been quite successful until I came across Stamina and became its fan. Thanks to it I mastered 10-fingure touch-typing and started to improve both the practical application and the speed of typing. I used Stamina on popular literature works.

But a true interest in touch-typing - both as a process and a kind of sport - was born after I had got to know the site urikor.net, which is my favourite internet resource at present. Finding out that I had reached rather satisfactory results with Stamina I learned that there is another direction for developing which this wonderful resource encourages. Besides, urikor.net is a meeting place of clever people, interesting interlocutors, which makes it even more attractive.

More importantly, thanks to uricor.net I learned about GZOS, Intersteno, the international competitions, that I could take part in. I suppose it has been the greatest event in my life so far and a wonderful stimulus for further development. My regards to GZOS, to urikor.net, to everybody who supported me personally and via the Internet. I sincerely hope that our mutual activities in Russia will expand and Russian masters of touch-typing will be successful both at on-line and off-line competitions.
